EMERGENCY SUPPORT
Kaleela Umma Foundation’s emergency response, recovery, and prevention programs assist communities affected by environmental disasters.KUF helps communities recover from these disasters, assists in rebuilding their lives, and serves to increase their resiliency to future disasters through immediate response and long-term recovery project.
KUF provides emergency response training to communities, offers medical aid, ensures access to healthcare services, and operates mental health and counseling programs in order to support the psychological well being of those who have been through a disaster, especially children.
KUF provides necessary personal items during a disaster, as many people flee their homes with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Examples include warm clothes, hygiene kits, diapers, cooking tools, medical supplies, blankets, and rechargeable lights. When appropriate
KUF provides long lasting food essentials and potable water sources so that families can focus on meeting other urgent needs. These are distributed in kits that can last a family a month or longer and contain appropriate, nutritious items.
KUF provides and constructs transitional emergency shelters, rehabilitates shelters that have been damaged in a disaster, and repairs sanitation facilities to improve community health. We work with local communities to ensure that families can remain in these homes once repairs are completed.
KUF helps people in need, without discrimination. Much of work takes place in fragile and unstable contexts. KUF adopts the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence as the core foundations of our action.
